One is missing, a motorized banca capsized off Bien-Unido town, a passenger vessel washed ashore off Jagna and a number of families evacuated in Candijay town are among the untoward incidents in Bohol as a result of typhoon ‘Paeng’ that dumped continuous torrential rains for almost two days in Bohol.
Governor Aris Aumentado ordered the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) assigned here for allegedly allowed a motorized banca to sail with students on board off Bien-Unido town.
“Coast Guard ngano inyo ni gi pa larga na bawod man. Hesus na disgrasya pa jud. Report to me ASAP,” the governor posted in his Erico Aristotle Aumentado facebook page. (Coast Guard why you allow this to sail and it capsized. Make report immediately).
The governor’s statement was an apparent reaction in facebook post of She Low who posted a video of students struggling to save themselves.
“Today (Friday) classes are cancelled due to the bad weather. Since it is already Friday, these students from the island forced themselves to ride a boat home with the reason that they have no more allowance that could help them last a day. Unfortunately, due to strong winds and waves, the boat the they boarded on capsized. That is why you can see in the video that these students swum to make it on land. The good thing was the boat capsized when they were already near at the island. These students are from Bien Unido and they are our Students in CPG,” the post said.
It was not known why the students gone to school when the classes of all levels — elementary, secondary and tertiary — were suspended on Friday by the governor.
A fisherman named Rogelio Abapo of Pandanon island. Getafe town, was missing based on the facebook post of Geldeth Mark Estillore Abapo. The post asked help whoever found the fisherman and his whereabouts and contact with mobile phone number below.
“Guys please ko sa akong mga kaila nga taga Isla sakop sa Bohol ou bisag asa nga dapit sa Visayas akong Papa nawala gianod pagkakadlawon palihog ko conttact ani nga number 09685026060. Salamat! Mao na ang sakayan nga dien siya karon,” the psot said.
It gained 2,400 shares, 807 likes and 83 comments. BNT tried to contact PDRRMO but to no avail as of this writing.
Another unfortunate incident due to “Paeng” that submerged some parts of Cotabato and Maguindanao provinces is the Lite Shipping passenger/cargo vessel that was anchored in Jagna port but washed ashore at the height of windy Friday night of rain.
Former municipal councilor Anthony Ranoa Aniscal posted in his fb, “Barko sa Lite Shipping nasangad sa kadagatan sa lungsod sa Jagna. Misuway kini paglikay sa kusog nga uwan ug hangin kagabii apan gipadpad kini ug nasangad sa kabaybayonan duul sa Jagna Baywalk. Ang maong barko regular nga nag byahe Jagna to Cagayan De Oro (Vice-Versa).”
Meanwhile, forced evacuation has been carried out in Candijay town, putting to safety some 49 or 170 individuals in barangay Canawa, Pandtaran and other barangays, PDRRMO said in radio report.
PAG-ASA placed the entire province of Bohol under public storm number one on Friday. (rvo)
