A world-class sports coliseum will soon rise in Tagbilaran City.

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Tagbilaran City government headed by Mayor Jane Yap broke ground at the anticipated sports facility.

The ceremony was attended by Engr. John Paul Gascon of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Bohol 1st district, former mayor and now chief of staff Baba Yap, Vice Mayor Adam Jala, City Administrator Cathy Torremocha, Engr. Noel Datahan, City General Services Office (CGSO) head John Torralba, Culture and Arts head Joseph Alexis Cadelina and village officials.

The sports destination will be in Barangay Dampas near the Tagbilaran City College.

The groundbreaking ceremony signaled the start of the construction of the sports coliseum.

Yap said that former mayor Baba Yap had planned to build the sports coliseum even before when the mayor was still serving his last term as local chief executive.

She said that the sports coliseum can host big conventions, conferences, concerts and other gatherings.
