A board member in Bohol passed away at12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 2.
Elpidio “Pidiong” Jala died at the Ace Medical Center in Tagbilaran City after being confined for over a month.
He was 77.
Jala was a last termer board member of the 3rd district of Bohol from 2013 to 2022.
He was the former schools Division Bohol superintendent from 2002 to 3012 . He had served the DECS/DepEd for 44 years before entering politics.
His son, Greg, said “This loss is so devastating for us, his family, his friends and all who knew and worked with Papa. We are mourning the loss of a most kind and generous person, a good role model, and a great advocate to the poor and under privileged. Papa Pediong lived an inspiring life, one that we will try to emulate as long as we live.”
Details of the special celebration commemorating Jala’s life and funeral will be announced by the family.
Meanwhile, Bohol 3rd district Rep. Alexie Tutor has extended her condolences to the family of the late lawmaker.
“Nong Pediong, you will always be remembered as a good public servant- a perfect blend of leadership and kindness,” said Tutor.
Gov. Art Yap also conveyed his condolences to the family.
“His invaluable service to the people will always be remembered. May he rest in peace,” Yap said.
