Operations of the Telephone and Radio System Integrated Emergency Response (TaRSIER) 117’s headquarters in Tagbilaran City were suspended starting Tuesday, Aug. 10, after four of its personnel got infected of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), an official said Tuesday.
The temporary suspension is until Aug. 20, according to Dr. Anthony Damalerio, chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
“Please be advised that starting today operations of TaRSIER 117 main HQ is suspended until August 20, 2021. This is to allow 1st gen contacts to undergo the required swabbing and quarantine protocols,” said Damalerio in an advisory.
However, only the Emergency Response was suspended and the Communications Unit and and all Substations are continuing daily operations. It would continue operations to take calls and dispatch emergency responders from TaRSIER 117’s substations.
” (T) hus all emergency dispatch are forwarded to the City DRRM Office and the respective LGU MDRRMOs including national agencies with DRRM mandates,” he added.
The four personnel were already isolated at the province’s central isolation center. Some 51 personnel of TaRSIER 117 and 14 PDRRMO staff who were first generation contacts were also quarantined.
TaRSIER 117 is the province’s emergency response unit. It has substations in Carmen, Jagna, Talibon, Ubay, Balilihan and Loon towns.
