At least 142 families in Candijay, Bohol have been evacuated from their residences situated in the flood-prone area, the local disaster risk reduction and management office reported.
The municipal government of Candijay on Saturday ordered the pre-emptive evacuation of all residents in Barangays Panadtaran, Cambane, Boyoan, San Isidro, Poblacion, La Union and Canawa due to the threat of tropical storm Auring” (international name: “Dujuan”).
The disaster risk reduction and management office said the move was part of the precautionary measures to prevent casualties.
The affected 142 families or 502 residents were housed in different evacuation centers.
Food packs were given by the municipal government.
Meanwhile, 250 residents of Mantatao island in Calape town were also evacuated on Saturday. They were housed at Calape National High School.
As of 11 a. m. Sunday, February 21, 2021, Pagasa said Signal No. 1 remains in Bohol and in parts of Visayas and Mindanao.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) number 2 was raised in some parts in Mindanao on Sunday as Tropical Storm Auring has maintained its strength and moved closer to the Visayas and Mindanao.
