The town of Candijay in Bohol province recorded its first Covid-19 death, theMunicipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office announced Tuesday.

The case was a 70-year-old male who died while being admitted at Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City.

He died of septic shock secondary to community acquired pneumonia.

A swab sample taken from the patient came out positive.

The local government cancelled the dancing fountain show at the plaza.

“Ato usang e-suspende ang regular schedule sa Dancing Water Fountain Show ingon man ang pagpasud og mga bata sa atong Play Park sa matag adlaw nga Biernes, Sabado ug Dominggo,” the MDDRMO announced.

On Wednesday, the MDRRMO announced that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Candijay decided that parishioners are no longer allowed the church during the New Year Mass.

” Regarding the scheduled New Year Holy Masses of our Churches in Candijay, please be informed that our local governance will only allow the predetermined capacity of each respective Church only. Churchgoers planning to hear mass, particularly those who have been advised to bring chairs and/or umbrellas are hereby encouraged to either hear mass online or on a different date/schedule as parokyanos are NO LONGER ALLOWED OUTSIDE THE CHURCH during said New Year Mass,” it said.

“This is in line with our efforts to contain the local transmission in our town. Our health and safety frontliners are hereby ordered to comply with the strict implementation of said protocol,” it added.

Candijay’s first Covid-19 death is the 17th in Bohol province.
