16 crew members of MV Good Fortune awaiting rescue

At least 16 crew members of a cargo vessel are awaiting rescue in Bohol sea on Sunday, October 25.

In a live Facebook post, one of the crew members, Jhon Paul Lato, called for help through livestream video on Facebook when they raised the distress signal.

MV Good Fortune, owned by Tektite Shipping Lines Inc., was reportedly carrying 16 crew members and was loaded with cement from Naga City, Cebu.

It was on its way to Tacloban City but it encountered strong winds and big waves while at the Bohol Sea.

The main engines malfunctoined due to the ingress of seawater into ship deck, according also to an initial report by the Philippine Coast Guard Central Visayas.

Rescue efforts is being undertaken by Philippine Coast Guard- Eastern Bohol.
