Wounded soldiers from Jolo blast receive recognition from WestMinCom chief

Eleven of the 21 wounded soldiers from the twin explosions in Jolo, Sulu on Tuesday were given recognition.

Maj. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr. took the time to check on their condition at Camp Navarro General Hospital, Calarian, Zamboanga City on Tuesday (August 25) afternoon.

Maj. Gen. Vinluan then conferred medals on the soldiers who sustained wounds during the twin blasts in Jolo, Sulu on August 24.

The Wounded Personnel Medal was awarded to Sergeant Norman Santiago, Corporal Jesus Genora, Corporal Jeric Gil Villaruz, Private First Class Jay Carbon, Private First Class Vincent Malupa, Private First Class Dave Egipto, Private First Class Noel Baccoy, Private First Class Jeffry Domingo, Private Baser Katopon, Private Jeasrael Sappao, and Private Rocelo Abacial, Jr.

They are among the 21 gallant soldiers who incurred wounds during the explosions.

“On behalf of the men and women of the Western Mindanao Command, I would like to extend my deep sympathies to the bereaved families of the victims who succumbed to death due to the mindless acts of terrorism,” said Maj. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr.

“Let us continue to pray for the eternal repose of the souls of those who were killed and for the speedy recovery of those who are recuperating in the hospitals,” he added.

“My salute goes to our valiant soldiers who dedicate their lives to serve and protect the people amid all adversaries,” Maj. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. added. (with reports from Western Mindanao Command)
