The province of Bohol has recorded 13 deaths by dengue in January 1 to July 25 this year putting the province’s under heightened alert for this mosquito-borne disease.
Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, spokesman of Bohol Capitol, said that the province recorded 2, 626 cases of dengue in various towns from January 1 to July 25, 2020, which is 10 percent higher than the cases recorded in 2019 for the same time period.
However, the fatality rate has lowered in 2020 as the province recorded 13 deaths compared to 22 deaths in 2019.
Among the 47 towns and one city, Talibon town recorded most of the cases with four deaths, followed by Tubigon,Tagbilaran, Clarin and Getafe.
According to Lopez, most of the victims are children aged 11 to 15 years old.
He said residents have to follow 4S “Search and destroy, Self-protection measures, Seek early consultation, Support fogging/spraying” to prevent the spread of the virus.
