Guv Yap: Catigbian resident is Bohol’s 6th case of community transmission

Governor Arthur Yap confirmed on Monday night that the patient who tested positive of Covid-19 from Catigbian town is the province’s 6th case due to community transmission.

“I call your attention to the fact that the Catigbian patient, is the 6th patient to be classified as a community transmission in the last 4 days. We must all be concerned,” said Yap in a Facebook post.

The patient, a 39-year-old resident of Barangay Alegria in Catigbian town, has been admitted at Catigbian District Hospital for the last 10 days due to mild pneumonia and was tagged as a stable moderate acute respiratory infection (MARI) patient.

Yap said the patient, who is a delivery driver, has no travel history.

He was tested using the Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) and man turned positive for IgG antibodies, so he was subjected to RT-PCR testing.

The patient, who has been in an isolation room in the said hospital since the start of his admission, is now recovered.

Contact tracing was conducted by the local health authorities.

In a separate post, Catigbian Mayor Elizabeth Mandin said that 29 persons who have direct contact with the patient were placed under strict home quarantine.

She added that a doctor and a nurse tested positive of the virus using rapid test.

Yap asked police and mayors to implement health standards strictly.

“We have been very understanding in the implementation of our laws, but the time has come that the greater good of the majority must be protected through the strict implementation of our Anti-Covid Protocols,” Yap said.
