Residents in Garcia Hernandez have been fortunate enough to catch a rare sighting of dolphins off its seas as they came out during the quarantine.

Resident Ruel Acero Baguhin said residents noticed the dolphins last June 29 in the sea waters off in Barangay Cayam.

Although dolphins have been previously seen in the town’s seas, they are no longer seen very often, according to residents.

Argen Joseph Galendez from the neighboring barangay went to Barangay Cayam for dolphin watching.

He said he was excited and happy since it was his first time to see dolphins at close range.

He said the dolphins have been seen in groups or ‘pods’ leaping out of the water, looking like they were thoroughly enjoying themselves.

There were bottlenose, spinner and orca dolphins.

It is not known why dolphins have returned to Garcia Hernandez, but residents believe it is to do with clear water and abundant of foods in the area.
