Globe Telecom Inc., together with Infinivan Inc and Eastern Telecoms, sought out the approval of the Fourteenth Sangguniang Panlungsod, to hasten their application for the installation and laying of submarine fiber optic cables within Tagbilaran City, for faster internet connections.

This was tackled by City Vice Mayor Jose Antonio “Toto” S. Veloso and the rest of the Fourteenth Sangguniang Panlungsod during their regular session last March 18, 2022 at the SP Sandugo Session Hall.

The connectivity within our beloved city shall further be strengthened through the domestic submarine cable network (DSCN).

This project will boost signal connectivity, inter island bigger data capacity and reliable internet connection. The submarine fiber optic connections shall be coming from Cebu, and the landing area is in Brgy. Ubujan.

The pipes from Ubujan will then be connected to its main hub in J.A. Clarin St. The route will be from Tomas Cloma St going to Cabalit St. then proceeding to Calceta St. and finally at its main hub in J.A. Clarin St.

After landing at Brgy. Ubujan, to ensure the success of the project, an open trench and horizontal directional drilling shall be conducted in between the manholes created. Manholes, cable landing, burial installation and laying of submarine fiber optic cables shall be established in the city, to ensure faster internet speeds.

This connection project has already been issued with the necessary clearance from the Cebu Environmental Office, and all required and appropriate permits have already been submitted. Globe Telecom is responsible for the safety, security, protection and convenience of the general public during the conduct of this project.

The resolution was sponsored by lawyer Nerio D. Zamora II, chairman of the Committee on Information and Communication Technology.
