4 Boholanos among incoming cadets at PMA

Four Boholanos have joined the 39 incoming cadets from Visayas as they enter the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in Baguio City.

Lt. Gen. Roberto Ancan, commander of Central Command (CENTCOM), personally sent-off the incoming PMA cadets in a simple ceremony held at Camp Lapulapu, Barangay Apas, Cebu City on Monday, June 8.

These successful applicants from the Visayas Region were then transported via military aircraft from Mactan Cebu Airport to Clark International Airport and subsequently to the academy located in Baguio City.

Prior to their departure to PMA, these incoming cadets of PMA Class 2024 were advised to consolidate at Headquarters, Central Command, AFP last May 31, 2020 to undergo a 7-day quarantine and COVID-19 PCR testing as part of the standard procedure. All of them tested negative.

The 39 incoming cadets whose ages range from 18 to 21 years old are composed of three college graduates; 21 college level, 13 from high school, and two were turned back cadets.

Four cadets came from Bohol; 11 from Cebu; two from Negros Oriental; five from Negros Occidental; seven from Samar; four from Iloilo; one from Antique; one from Aklan; one from Surigao Del Norte; one from Leyte and one from Capiz.”

CENTCOM prepared a proper send-off ceremony for these incoming cadets as a way of encouragement for they are about to begin a very significant milestone in their life, joining the most prestigious academy in the Philippines,” a portion of their news release read.

“Take one day at a time. Follow the legal orders at all times, adhere to the Honor system and Honor code of the academy, and pray to the Almighty for guidance and spiritual strength regardless of what religion you are practicing. Continue what you have achieved and help each other,” said Lt Gen. Ancan.

“I hope that you will finish what you are about to start as a cadet of the Philippine Military Academy and eventually join us in the service as Officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, ” he added.

He wished these incoming cadets luck and for them to have a safe journey to their new home in Baguio City, the Philippine Military Academy. With reports from Public Information Office, Central Command, AFP
