Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap ordered on Thursday, June 4, a lockdown in Purok 2, Barangay Dao after learning that one of its residents admitted at a private hospital tested positive of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Available data revealed by Yap said the admitted patient is neither an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) or a Locally Stranded Individual (LSI).
No additional details yet including were made available, as of this writing.
Contact tracing is now being done and those who had direct contact with the patient will undergo a rapid antibody test.
He asks residents to stay at home to help minimize the risk to the community.
“Please dili lang ta mag lakaw-lakaw kung walay importante nga mga lakaw (Please do not go out if you have nothing important to do outside),” Yap said.
The lockdown in Purok 2 has started tonight.
Law enforcement authorities were sent to ensure strict implementation of lockdown and health protocols in the area.
Yap said residents are not allowed to go out of their houses. He added residents will be provided with relief foods during the lockdown.
