Two persons were arrested by the police in an anti-illegal gambling operation in Tagbilaran City on Sunday afternoon.
Tagbilaran City Police arrested Rolan Sibi Dumalagan, 35, a resident of Barangay Ubujan and Noli Aguaviva Caliniahan, 29, a resident of Barangay Manga in Tagbilaran City.
According to police, Dumalagan was a recipient of the social amelioration program (SAP).
The suspects were caught in the act of engaging in illegal cockfighting locally known as “tukis” at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 10 at Purok-5 in Barangay Taloto, Tagbilaran City.
Recovered were two live fighting cocks with a gaff and without a gaff and bet money amounting to P200.
The suspects were brought to Tagbilaran City Police Station and now temporarily detained in the custodial facility for proper disposition while a case of Violation of Presidential Decree No. 449 “Cockfighting Law of 1974” is being prepared for filing before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
