The distribution of cash subsidy of the government’s social amelioration program (SAP) continued on Friday in some barangays in Tagbilaran City.
On Thursday, several residents have expressed concern over the lack of physical distancing and the long lines in sites where financial aid for the COVID-19 lockdown is being distributed.
In Barangays Booy and Cogon, long queues outside the barangay covered courts where the government’s SAP was being distributed.
In Booy, the lines of residents started early morning since it was announced that the distribution was scheduled at 9 a.m., but was moved to 11 a.m. and 2.p.m. until it was eventually canceled happen since there were no DSWD personnel around.
The barangay council then advised residents to go home and go back at 4.p.m. The SAP distribution continued on Friday.
Under the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act, 18 million Filipinos will be given financial aid depending on the minimum wage in their areas.
Meanwhile, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año asked local government units to finish the provision of the SAP’s first tranche by April 30.
