A grass fire hit a vacant lot near the Ubay port on Tuesday afternoon, March 31, 2020 that lasted for almost an hour.
FO1 Jerahmeel Bartolaba, the fire investigator of Ubay Fire Station, said the fire started at about 1:15 p.m. inside the vacant lot covered with dried “bugang” (bulrush) plant.
Fire trucks from this town and from a private company responded to the scene.
The fire official said no one was hurt and declared it fire out at 2 p.m.
He said he had yet to establish the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, another bushfire occurred in Jagna town tonight.
Jagna councilor Anthony Aniscal, in a post on his Facebook account, said firefighters could not get close to the fire scene but they are closely monitoring the situation.
