Presidential Assistant for Visayas Michael Lloyd L. Dino was advised to implement a 24-hour curfew for senior citizens aged 65 years old and above, as well as students, in the Visayas as a measure against the possible spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
All local government units (LGUs) in the three regions in the Visayas were advised to also issue the corresponding ordinances in implementing the said guidelines.
The military and police are directed to render full assistance to LGUs in the implementation of their respective ordinances.
In Cebu, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia issued the same order which will take effect at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Mach 22, 2020.
However, those who need to go to medical facilities are exempted from the order.
Garcia said that she will ask all mayors of the province to also release a similar EO.
“Ang tanan nga mga estudyante will be on a 24-hour curfew. Diha nalang sila sulod sa balay. Ang mga kapulisan sa checkpoints ug ang atong mga military mo-check kanila ug mao usab ang mosita kanila kon sila dili motuman,” Garcia said in a press conference on Saturday.
Those who plan to go outside their houses are also required to bring identification (ID) cards.
Local leaders in Cebu have agreed not to implement a province-wide lockdown even with the discovery of the first Covid-19 case in Mandaue City.
