Panic buying at Bohol stores over fears of COVID-19

Some Boholanos have resorted to buying goods in bulk amid the ongoing threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).Some consumers continue to hoard necessities such as disinfectants and food due to the fear of community quarantine in Bohol starting Monday, March 16.Aside from the supply of alcohol, canned goods, biscuits and noodles almost run out in grocery stores in Tagbilaran.”Wala man gud na makahibaw unsay mahitabo kay mag-lockdown na ang Bohol,” resident Jessa Gato said.”Maayo nalang na nga ready ta sa mahitabo,” she added.The Department of Trade and Industry also assured the public that there is ample supply of food and other necessities.A mall issued a statement that it have enough sufficient stocks and supplies of basic commodities.”No need to panic,” Alturas Group of Companies said in a statement.Bohol will be placed on “community quarantine for at least five days to contain the spread of the (COVID-19) in the country. The quarantine will begin on March 16 and last until March 20, 2020.Visitors who are coming to Bohol on the said dates will not be welcomed to the province.
