Msgr. Esteban Binghay, one of the Episcopal Vicars of the Archdiocese of Cebu, has died in Cebu City at age 84, the diocesan spokesperson said on Monday.

Binghay succumbed to pneumonia at 12:40 p.m. today, November 4, 2019 while admitted at the Perpertual Succour Hospital in Cebu City, said Msgr. Joseph Tan, the Archdiocesan spokesperson.

He was a priest for 57 years and served as an episcopal vicar with the task of overseeing certain parishes in the archdiocese.

Binghay is well remembered because of his humorous homilies and his way of touching people’s lives through his homilies.

The diocese is still finalizing details of Binghay’s wake and funeral.
