A magnitude-5.5 earthquake shook Burdeos town in Quezon province and in several areas in Luzon on Friday afternoon, September 13.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake struck 40 kilometers northeast of Burdeos at 4:28 p.m.
The earthquake of tectonic origin had a depth of 10 kilometers, it added.
Phivolcs also reported that the tremor was felt in the following areas:
Intensity IV – Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte; Quezon City
Intensity III – Guinyangan, Quezon
Instrumental Intensity:
Intensity III – Quezon City; Tagaytay City
Phivolcs warned that aftershocks may be expected from the earthquake.
It also said the tremor is likely to cause damage in affected areas.
Aside from Quezon City, the quake was also felt in other portions of Metro Manila, including Cainta, Makati, Pasay, and Muntinlupa.
