The low pressure area (LPA) east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur that the state weather bureau Pagasa is monitoring has developed into a tropical depression and assigned the name Liwayway.
It is the 2nd tropical cyclone to enter PAR in September after “Kabayan,” which developed into a tropical depression at 2 a.m. on Sunday, September 1, and left the country’s jurisdiction hours after.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 10 a.m., the center of TD “Liwayway” was 405 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
It is moving northwest at 20 kph.
Pagasa said “Liwayway” may bring scattered light to moderate rains with at times heavy rainshowers over Caraga and Davao Region today.
“Liwayway” is less likely to make landfall in the country, Pagasa said.
