BSP warns public: Reproducing Philippine banknotes is illegal

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has reminded the public that reproducing Philippine banknotes without prior authorization is prohibited by law, following the spread of social media posts falsely claiming that photocopied peso bills can be used to pay for goods and services.

BSP closes Opportunity Kauswagan Bank

The Monetary Board (MB) of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) prohibited Opportunity Kauswagan Bank, Inc. from doing business in the Philippines through MB Resolution No. 1635.B dated December 2, 2021, which also directed the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC), as Receiver, to proceed with the takeover and liquidation of the bank.

BSP launches P5,000 Lapu-Lapu bill, coin

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the National Quincentennial Committee (NQC) launched on Monday the P5,000 Lapu-Lapu Commemorative Banknote and Medal to kick off the 99-day countdown to the 500th anniversary of the “Victory at Mactan.”
