CARMEN, Bohol — Mayor Conchita “Che” Toribio-Delos Reyes has pledged to donate several parcels of family-owned land to support major public infrastructure and social services in this fast-growing town.

Provincial Board Member Nathaniel Binlod said the mayor will donate one hectare for the establishment of the Carmen Science High School, as well as half a hectare each for a public bus terminal, a drug rehabilitation center, and a new public cemetery.

Delos Reyes confirmed that the properties, all located in Barangay Poblacion Norte, will be turned over to the municipal government for public use.

The donation builds on the mayor’s earlier contributions to local development. She previously donated land for the Carmen Municipal College and provided another parcel for a Land Bank of the Philippines branch to improve access to financial services in the largely agricultural municipality.

Delos Reyes said the municipal college offers free tuition and now accepts students from outside Carmen, with only minimal miscellaneous fees of P1,800 per semester.

Binlod added that the local government also plans to expand its solar-powered street lighting program throughout the poblacion. The project, which has already reached Barangay Bicao, is currently on hold pending clarification on implementation issues.
