TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Two residential fires broke out in Tagbilaran City and Baclayon town on New Year’s Day, damaging houses but leaving no one injured.
The first fire was reported at around 3:23 a.m. at a two-story house in Purok 1, Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City, owned by Nicasio Calamba and occupied by three families or nine individuals.
Firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Tagbilaran City responded within five minutes and declared the fire out at 3:44 a.m.
One structure with an estimated floor area of 192 square meters was damaged, with losses pegged at P1.44 million. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Later that day, at about 5:42 p.m., another residential fire was reported in Barangay Santa Cruz, Baclayon. The fire involved a house owned by Gilda Estaño and affected one family.
The BFP Baclayon Fire Station responded to the incident and placed the fire under control minutes later. About 100 square meters of the residential structure was damaged. No casualties were recorded.
Authorities said the causes of both fires are still under investigation and reiterated their call for the public to observe fire safety measures during the holiday season.
