TAGBILARAN CITY – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Bohol on Monday conducted a clarificatory hearing on a complaint alleging abuse of state resources involving several respondents from the town of Garcia Hernandez.
The hearing was presided over by Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Eliseo Labaria.
The complaint was filed by Henry Sajulga, Jone Jade Dano Acapulco, and Mary Rose Edubas against Garcia Hernandez Mayor Filadelfo Jess Baja III, Antonia Ladaga, An Baja, Antonio Baja, Edwin Baja, Lito Dajalos, Edgar B. Galbizo, Nilo Salise, Carol Tentativa, and Editha Virador.
The complainants accused the respondents of allegedly misusing government resources, a possible violation under election laws prohibiting the use of public funds or assets to influence voters.
Acapulco said they have not yet received any response.
Baja’s camp was given 10 days to submit their position paper. After the 10-day period, the case will be forwarded to the Law Department for an en banc hearing.
Labaria said the case will be submitted for resolution following the completion of the hearing.
It may be recalled that on May 2, complaint for disqualification was filed against Baja and his group in Garcia Hernandez for allegedly interfering in the distribution of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program. With reports from Helen Castaño
