At least 22 young political leaders arrived in Bohol for the Konrad Adenauer School for Young Politicians (KASYP).

Lawyer Filipina Asoy-Piollo, Capitol chief of staff, welcomed the delegates on behalf of Gov. Aris Aumentado on Feb. 16 at the Capitol.

Aumentado expressed gratitude to the organizers for choosing Bohol as their destination of choice and hub for learning on good governance.

The activity also  provides an opportunity to exchange local governance best practices on youth development with our young politicians who are engaged in governance and politics in their respective countries.

Rey Uzhmar Padit, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) programme manager, thanked the provincial government for graciously hosting the delegates.

According to Padit, this is the 15th batch of young political leaders under the Regional Programme Political Dialogue Asia in Singapore.

The delegates are party representatives of countries including India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Timor Leste, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Mongolia, Taiwan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

The training workshops on the first module on “Political Parties’ Functions and Organizations in Democratic Societies” were held in Bohol and Cebu City.

During the visit, the delegates interacted with Board Member Lawrence Ancla, Sangguniang Kabataan provincial federation president; Dimiao Vice Mayor Jessie Paluga, National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL)–Bohol Chapter vice president; Antequera Councilor Al Coquilla, NMYL-Bohol Chapter Board Director; Karl Michael Din, Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office resident geologist, and Bryani Jillian Otordoz, Provincial Youth Development Council sectoral representative.

Initiated in 2010, the KASYP is a capacity-development programme aimed at developing a cadre of young political leaders who will take lead in the advancement of responsiveness and accountability of political parties in Asia. (PIMO/LMS)
