Police responded swiftly to information received and intercepted a motor-napping suspect inside an elementary school in Buenavista, Bohol, on Thursday morning, November 23, 2023.
Buenavista Municipal Police Station under the Bohol Police Provincial Office received a phone call from a concerned individual who requested police assistance after an unidentified male suspect grabbed the motorcycle and firearm of a police officer resulting in an armed confrontation at around 9:30 AM on November 23 at Brgy. Lusong, Buenavista, Bohol.
Immediately, Buenavista police in coordination with the BPPO Hqs and other support units were dispatched to act on the incident reported.
According to the reports, the motorcycle was owned by a police officer assigned to Ubay Municipal Police Station, and his service firearm was also grabbed by the suspect and fired at him. The police officer left unharmed.
As the responding police stopped the suspect, the suspect fired shots at them and an armed confrontation ensued.
The suspect managed to run away and took cover in one of the classrooms at Lusong Elementary School.
Buenavista police tried to convince the suspect to surrender, however, he fired back at them causing them to defend themselves and fire back.
The suspect was wounded and sustained gunshot wounds on his head and leg.
As of this writing, the suspect was brought to the nearest hospital for immediate medical care.
General Anthony Aberin, PRO-7 director, in a statement, commended the responding police in coordination with other support units that led to the arrest of the suspect.
“Again, concerned citizens of Bohol acted timely and appropriately in reporting the incident which enabled the police to take action leading to the speedy arrest of the suspect. I commend the Buenavista police for their swift response!,” he added.
