President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared February 24, 2023, as a special non-working holiday in commemoration of the 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution anniversary.
The historic event is commemorated every February 25, but the 37th anniversary falls on a Saturday.
Under Proclamation 167, Marcos moved the celebration of one of the country’s historical events to February 24 from February 25 “to enable our countrymen to avail [themselves] of the benefits of a longer weekend pursuant to the principle of holiday economics.”
The Edsa People Power Revolution ended the 20-year ruling of Marcos’ father, late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
