For the Barangay Poblacion 2 fire victims, this has certainly been the saddest Christmas for them. With their homes and properties reduced into ashes, they will have to bear the hassle of spending the rest of the holidays at the barangay’s evacuation center.
Ken Requeron, 38, said it was celebrating Christmas in a place that is not familiar.
His past Christmas celebrations were spent at his own home and sometimes at his sibling in Cebu.
“Due to a disappointing event, we celebrated Christmas without a home,” he said on Facebook on Christmas eve.
Another victim, Avelina Obeñita, 81, said she celebrated the saddest Christmas.
Even if the fire claimed three lives and left at least 88 families homeless, the victims still hope for a good Christmas.
“What is important is we are alive. There is still the word HOPE,” he said.
“But life must go on,” said Obeñita.
The fire claimed three lives and left at least 85 families homeless on Dec 23, merely two days before Christmas.
The Tagbilaran City government headed by Mayor Jane Yap immediately gave aid to the victims.
The mayor said the city government was working on providing financial help to the victims.
