Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia- Frasco led the groundbreaking of Bohol’s Tourist Rest Area (TRA) in Dauis town on Wednesday, Dec. 7.
Frasco said that the tourist rest facility highlights the provision of clean restrooms for tourists who visit the province, a popular destination in the country.
The groundbreaking of Dauis Tourist Rest Area was also attended by Gov. Aris Aumentado, Vice Gov. Victor Balite, First District Rep. Edgar Chatto, Second District Rep. Vanessa Aumentado, Dauis Mayor Roman Bullen and Vice Mayor Miriam Sumaylo.
This is the 6th Tourist Rest Area launched by the DOT since October this year.
It was followed by signing the Memorandum of Agreement for the establishment of a Tourist Rest Area with TIEZA Asst. Chief Operating Officer Gregory Oller.
She said the TRA facilities will have a maximum of at least 300 square meter zone and will be filled with a “pasalubong center” inside to promote local products and native artifacts to highlight Filipino artistry.
She noted that the provision of decent and clean restrooms had been one of the long-belated concerns of local and foreign tourists traveling the country.
Bohol is one of the most visited destinations in Central Visayas, the home. of the tarsier, Chocolate Hills and white-sandy beaches.
Frasco said Bohol is close to her heart. She promised to support the tourism programs of Aumentado-Balite administration.
She also visited the Alona Beach on Panglao.
