Troops from 47 Infantry Battalion encountered an undetermined number of armed men around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, in Barangay Upper Cabacnitan in Batuan town while conducting security operations in connection with the COVID-19 efforts.
According to 1Lt Elma Grace Remonde, Civil Military Operation Officer of the 47IB, there were reports recieved from civilians that some armed men were sighted in the area.
The army immediately responded and resulted to a five-minute firefight and enemies then dispersed towards northwest in the encounter site. There are no casualties from both sides.
A pursuit operation is still on going following the incident.
