After winning big last year, Sandingan National High School (SNHS) won again in this year’s SidlaKasilak Dance of Lights on Friday, September 6.

Gov. Jacinto Borja National High School was declared 1st runner-up, while Saint Teresa Academy was 2nd runner-up.

SidlaKasilak or Festival of Lights is an nnual festival of lights to honor the “Birhen sa Kasilak” (Our Lady of Light), patroness of Loon.

SidlaKasilak was coined from the Visayan words “sidlak” (rise) and “silak” (shine).

It was inspired by past religious processions in Loon when the faithful would light candles in colorful hand-held lanterns or “parow”, the local version of the “parol”.

SidlaKasilak is said to be the only festival in Bohol held at night time since the emphasis is on the movement and fusion of lights.

All roads lead to Loon town, come September 7, and 8, as the town celebrates the 272nd feast day of its Patroness, the Our Lady of Light (Virgin sa Kasilak).

Happy fiesta, Loon! Loon Madanihon!!!
