For a safer celebration of the festive season, the EcoWaste Coalition reminded the public not to buy and use uncertified Christmas lights, which may pose electric shock and fire hazard.

Offline and online retailers urged to voluntarily stop selling lead-containing paints 

The toxics watchdog group EcoWaste Coalition wrapped up its participation in this year’s International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (ILPPW) with an urgent plea to retailers, offline and online, to stop the unethical and unlawful distribution and sale of paints with violative levels of lead, a potent brain and reproductive toxicant and an endocrine disrupting chemical.

As the International Lead Poisoning Prevention (ILPPW) is observed, the EcoWaste Coalition announced its discovery of more paints with violative levels of lead, a potent poison that impacts children’s development, damaging the developing brain, the nervous, blood circulatory, immune, and reproductive systems, with an array of adverse effects.

Philippines: Lead Safe Paint Advocates Ramp Up Collaboration vs. Lead-Containing Paints

Coinciding with the 12th International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (ILPPW) on October 20 to 26, the EcoWaste Coalition, the International Pollutants Elimination Network (IPEN) and the Philippine Paint and Coatings Association, Inc. (PPCAI) have come out with a timely public notice to inform and alert paint retailers and consumers against foreign-sourced paints being sold in the market, including in online shopping platforms, that contain lead in brazen violation of the national lead paint ban.
