Bishop Abet Uy of the Diocese of Tagbilaran has condemned what he called “killing” of four fully grown acacia trees along CPG North Avenue in Barangay Taloto in Tagbilaran City.

“We have more than enough Gas Stations in Bohol. More than enough. But, we are badly needing huge Trees (like Acacia Trees) because of the damaging effects of global warming and climate change. The cutting of 4 huge Acacia Trees is a big loss not only for this generation but for many generations to come,” said Bishop Uy on a Facebook post Sunday.

He also asked government officials, lawmakers, businessmen and agencies concerned to protect the trees left.

“Molihok ta palihug para mapanalipdan ang gamay na lang nga mga bililhong kahoy dinhi sa ato. Hinumdoman nato nga sa pag-amping sa kinaiyahan, ato usab nga giampingan ang atong kaugalingon ug ang atong mga minahal,” he said.

He also said it’s not a livelier journey if other people are suffering.

” LIVELIER JOURNEY???
Kadtong dunay sakyanan nga aircon “livelier” ilang journey. Unsaon pagka-lively sa mga gabaklay nga wala naman intawon silay kapasilongan batok sa kainit sa adlaw,” he said.

In a separate post, Bishop Uy said, “Gaputol silag mga kahoy nga makapabugnaw sa kalibotan aron tukoron ang gasolinahan nga ang produkto makapainit sa kalibotan.”
