An estimated 550 sacks of waste materials were recovered after a massive coastal clean-up was done in Sitio Lusimba, Barangay Basak San Nicolas in Cebu City on Saturday, Aug. 24.

The clean-up drive was spearheaded by the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) in Cebu City.

The area is filled with garbage mostly plastic and other recyclable materials.

In order to address it, it was recommended that a quarterly clean-up must be done in the area.

The activity was participated by the following stakeholders: Philippine Coast Guard; Philippine Navy; Philippine National Police; Bureau of Fire Protection; DPWH; Barangay Street Cleaners; local residents; Barangay Staff; Lupong Tagapamayapa; Barangay Tanods; Cebu City Government; Barangay Officials; Philippine Coast Guard Auxillary; and the Women’s Organization.
