A new low pressure area (LPA) east of the Philippines is expected to enter the country’s area of responsibility on Monday, August 26, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA may develop into a storm within the next few days.
It is now estimated at 1,695 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, on Sunday morning.
Once it intensifies into a tropical depression, the weather disturbance will be given the local name “Jenny.”
Jenny will be the third cyclone to enter the PAR this month, and the 10th this year.
The LPA will still have no direct effect over any part of the country this Monday, Pagasa added.
