Four persons died and one was seriously injured when a cargo truck fell into a ravine in Batuan town on Tuesday afternoon.
Police Corporal Julius Eulogio, investigator at the Batuan Police Station, said that at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, an Isuzu Forward carrying lumber failed to maneuver the treacherous curve entering Makapiko Bridge and fell head on to the ravine.
Batuan police and rescue workers were at the scene to rescue the men who were pinned down inside the truck.
They were able to rescue first the lone survivor named Edwin Banga, 28, a resident of Garcia Hernandez town who was brought to Cong. Simeon Toribio Hospital in Carmen town.
The rains worsen making the rescue operation difficult.
At 8.p.m. on Tuesday, the rescuers were able to retrieve the lifeless bodies of the other four men who were identified as Alberto Abuel, Reinerio Galido, Francisco Mangubat and Joseph Felisilda.
The cargo was loaded with lumber from Dimiao town to Catigbian town.
