A Boholano figure skater took home a total of 8 medals at the recently-concluded Skate Asia 2019 event in Bangkok, Thailand earlier this month.
The tournament featured 3,455 events spread out over two venues and it attracted 960 competitors from 11 countries -Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, UAE, Philippines, Macau, Vietnam, Japan, and USA.
Franz Cameron Villacastin Tadena, a Grade 7 student of Colegio de la Medalla Milagrosa, (CMM) in Jagna town, Bohol represented Team Philippines in the recently concluded Skate Asia 2019, August 3-10, 2019 held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Philippines was the 3rd Placer out of 11 Asian countries of which Tadena contributed the following awards to its rank: 3 Golds for Technical, Solo Compulsory and footwork category; 2 Silvers for Artistic and spotlight Character Category; and 3 Bronze for Light Entertainment, Surprise and open freestyle (Silver) Category.
The skaters were led by Coaches Carla Erum and Leny Limson Gomez of the SM Seaside Ice Skating Rink.
“First of All, I would like to thank -My coaches (Coach Awing, Al, Mina) and to all the coaches in SM Seaside, Maam Suzette, parents and fellow skaters,” Tadena posted on Facebook.
He also thanked his friends and supporters for his success.
“And most of all I would like to thank God, Mama Mary and all the angels and saints in heaven for guiding me through this competition,” he added.
