Backyard farmers and aspiring agri-entrepreneurs were given the opportunity to learn about starting and sustaining their business with the Pilmico Agri and Livelihood Expo held on August 10, 2019 in Ubay town.

Pilmico, the food subsidiary of the Aboitiz Group, envisions big things for local farming communities, most especially, in provinces which is why they put up events like the Pilmico Agri and Livelihood Expo; to provide support and further learning for the advancement of local businesses and communities in the area.

The event welcomed residents from different barangays in Ubay and gave them access to tools such as seminars on livestock raising and nutrition, and basic and advanced baking demos which they can use to kickstart their very own sustainable livelihood. Attendees were also graced with a special cooking demo by celebrity guest chef, Chef Boy Logro, and treated with games, raffles, and Pilmico branded giveaways.

“This is one of the ways we give back to our communities. We educate local farmers on business management and offer them quality products and expert services to further develop their livelihood. Through this, we hope to instill an entrepreneurial mindset which hopefully will contribute to their success, the success of their community, and eventually, the agriculture industry, as a whole.” Jeff Canilang, AVP of Pilmico Feed Sales – Swine, says.

Along with the help of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Pilmico was able to bring their vision closer to the local farmer. Assisting in the event, DTI-Go Negosyo gave a primer to attendees on the basic requirements of starting up a business, whereas the DAR bridged the connection of Pilmico and chosen beneficiaries to receive livelihood starter kits in the form of egg-laying machines, piglet dispersals, and bakery starter kits. The chosen beneficiaries of the starter kits will be guided by Pilmico representatives in the succeeding months to make sure that their new businesses are sustained and hopefully, continually improving.

Pilmico advances business and communities by being a true Partner for Growth of local farmers and businesses. Through events like the Pilmico Agri and Livelihood Expo, the company is able to inspire future agri-entrepreneurs by sharing its extensive industry knowledge, business solutions, and expert advice.
