Jagna police on Tuesday said they had identified the mother of a newborn baby boy found abandoned in a creek in Barangay Looc, Jagna town on Tuesday morning.

Hours after the baby was found dead, police identified the mother as Roselle Oclarit Salvaleon, 19, a resident in the said barangay.

Salvaleon would face infanticide case.

She told police that the baby was already lifeless when she gave birth on Monday night at her house.

Police Staff Sergeant Leonardo Penido of Jagna Police Station said residents discovered the baby in the creek at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Authorities believe that the hours-old baby was intentionally left by her Salvaleon.

She told police that she was a victim of domestic abuse by the father of the child.
