Filipinos cheered on Sunday when William “Yamyam” Gucong, who hails from Inabanga town, was named “Pinoy Big Brother: Otso” ultimate big winner.
In Bohol, fans and supporters celebrated the victory.
The local government of Inabanga congratulated Gucong who is “Garbo sa Inabanga.”
“Ang kinatibuk-ang teamINABANGA pinangulohan ni Mayor Roygie Jumamoy mapasalamaton ug mapasigarbuhon sa imong kadaugan ug dungog nga gihatag sa lunsod sa INaBanga ug tibuok lalawigan sa Bohol,” the town’s official Facebook account posted on Sunday.
Another congratulatory message came from Inabanga councilor Jono Jumamoy.
“Congratulations Yamyam! Tanang INaBangnon ug Bol-anon proud nimo. Daghan salamat usab sa tanan nga ni tabang para ma kab-ot ang #damgoNiYamyam,” Jumamoy posted on Facebook.
His winning was the “proudest moment of Inabanga and Bohol,” according to former youth leader Gerwin Yudelmo.
Many of Gucong’s kababayans rooted for him to win.
“Congratulations YAMYAM! I know you’ll get this, since your batch started..You made it! I wanna hug and cry with your Tatay and Nanay and whole family! (Milyonaryo og artista na ilahang anak) So proud of you Sano! #victoryofboholano,” said Bohol’s Chocolate Princess Dalareich Polot on Facebook.
Gucong’s victory was a long time coming, said Maria Aumentado in Facebook.
“Hi si YAMYAM kaba? Bakit?
Kasi YAMYAM este ramdam ko na talaga na ikaw na talaga.Ang alin? Ang BIG WINNER sa puso ko! hahahahahaha WALEY!!! Anyways CONGRATS YAMYAM WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU & WE LOVE YOU! #YamyamForTheWin,” said Aumentado.
Couturier Aileen Sendrijas-Pasagad also voted for Gucong.
“Congrats yamyaaam..proud kababayang Inabangnon here,” she said on Facebook. ” (I) can’t wait for your homecoming mouli jd kog Inabanga yeahh..”
The ‘Iskulit Bai ng Bohol’, Yamyam bested other seven housemates coming from four batches- Andre, Lou, Fumiya from Batch 2, Lie and Kaori from Batch 1, Ashley frmo Batch 3 and Kiara from Batch 4.
Yamyam received 58.52% votes.
Kiara placed second with 30.29%,Lou placed 3rd with 8.28% votes and Andre placed 4th with 2.91% votes.
“Sobrang saya ko po ngayong gabi. Dahil nasa iyong harapan ang ultimate big winer na si Yamyam,” he said.
“Napatunayan ko sa akong sarili dahil sa kahirapan kaya nating bumangon sa ating buhay,” Yamyam said after his name was announced.
Yamyam would receive the grand prize of Php 2 million pesos, a condominium, a business package, travel package and more.
