Chang Hu and his family were on a three-day trip in Bohol.
After Bohol, they were supposed to travel on Cebu on Monday at 10:40 a.m.
However, trips to Cebu were cancelled on Monday due to strong waves caused by Southwest monsoon (habagat) enhanced by tropical depression Hanna.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said the state weather bureau Pagasa issued a gale warning in Central and Eastern seaboard of Visayas.
Pagasa’s estimate of the waves was 2.8 to 4.5 meters making it very difficult for fast craft vessels to sail.
Fastcrafts above 250 tons were allowed to sail, however, the management of OceanJet and 2Go
decided to cancel their trips for safety reasons.
Hu and his family lined up at the ticketing office to have their tickets refunded. They were able to take the 12:10 p.m. of Lite Shipping bound for Cebu.
Passengers had their ticket refunded or rebooked. Others took the 12 noon trip via Lite Ferry of Lite Shipping Corporation.
Passengers at Tubigon Port.
In Tubigon town, fastcrafts below 250 tons were also cancelled on Monday.
Some passengers came to Tubigon Port as early as 3 a.m. for the 5:30 a.m. They lined up at the ticketing office of a shipping company even the office didn’t issue a ticket.
Some passengers stayed at the town’s gymnasium while waiting for boats to sail.
Only a big boat from Fastcat was allowed to leave Tubigon port at 5:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
