A barangay councilor in Taguihon, Baclayon town was found hanging dead inside his room in an apparent suicide this morning.
According to Police Sgt. Neil Sumaoy of Baclayon Police Station, the 35-year-old councilor Augustus Caesar Omaña was found by his sister at 9.am. inside his room already hanging lifeless.

Sumaoy said Omaña used a rope and tied it around his neck to take his life.
When police arrived at their home, the neighbors had helped out the councilor’s sister bring him down and lay him on his bed.

Dr. Adrian Sampang, the municipal health officer of Baclayon town, was the one who examined the dead body. He ruled out that there was no foul play on his death. Also, there was no external injury found on the body of the victim.

Sumaoy said their initial investigation revealed that the deceased councilor was supposed to attend a court hearing for a case. (Bohol Island News decided to withhold the information of this case so as to protect the immediate family of the deceased.)
Allegedly, Sumaoy added that this is the second attempt of the councilor to take his life.
