A 17-year-old girl was found dead on Thursday night, July 25, in an apparent suicide in Tagbilaran City in Bohol province, police said.
Using a blanket, the girl hanged herself from their house, according to Erlinda Villaber, radio operator at the Tagbilaran City Police Station.
The lifeless body of the girl was discovered by her mother at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Investigators found a suicide note apparently written by the girl.
The cause of her death, according to police, was depression after she was reprimanded by her mother.
She died while the family remembered the 40th day after the death of their father.
Since June, this is the fifth case in Bohol of people taking their own lives.
