There is professional help when you need one here in Central Visayas.
The Department of Health Center for Health Development here urges the public to avail of their local helpline services in order to combat depression.
DOH-7 Regional Director Jaime Bernadas said this helpline has trained psychologists who immediately provides counseling to callers.
The helpline called “Tawag Paglaum” is the local version of Hopeline. It was established two years ago in an effort to address the growing number of people suffering from depression or those entertaining thoughts of suicide.
Their call center is based inside the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) under the supervision of the Center for Behavioral Sciences.
“Kung duna ta’y atong mga kaigsoonan nga aduna’y problema ug gusto nila nga naa siya’y kaistorya, kapahungawan, ug kapangayoan og advise, tawagan nila ni atong hotline. Duna’y mga counselors nga direkta nilang maistorya ug makatabang nila,” Bernadas said in an interview.
