A senior citizen was killed after he was hit by a tourist van while crossing the national highway in Barangay Tagbuane in Alburquerque town, Bohol.

According to Police Staff Sergeant Noel Monton of Alburquerque Police Station, Samuel Dumagan suffered severe head injuries in the accident at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10.

Dumagan was rushed to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City for treatment but he was declared dead on arrival.

Monton said the driver of the Toyota Coaster identified as Miguel Reyes was  heading to Loay town from the city when the accident occurred.  He was also brought to the hospital for high blood pressure.

However, the tourists were unhurt, added Monton.

Monton also advised the public to exercise caution and use designated pedestrian walkways when crossing the road.
