Police denied report of a man who died after taking a selfie with the forest in the background along the highway at the Loboc-Bilar man-made forest on Saturday.
A post on a Facebook page, which circulated on Saturday, reported of a young man who died after he was hit by a van while taking a selfie.
However, Bilar Police Station clarified on Saturday that no such incident happened.
Police Master Sergeant Brian Anthony Idulsa of Bilar Police Station said there was only one incident reported at past 1 p.m., involving a van.
Based on their police records, the van’s tire slipped and fell into the canal on the side of the road.
No one was hurt though in the incident.
There was also no such incident reported in Loboc, according to Police Senior Master Sergeant Rey Cutero.
He said the station was in full alert since they were celebrating the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul.
The famous man-made forest, a two-kilometer stretch of densely planted mahogany trees at the border of Loboc and Bilar towns, leads to the Chocolate Hills in Carmen town.
