A couple riding a motorcycle was hit by a speeding car while they were traveling at the national highway in Barangay San Francisco, Ubay town, Bohol on Saturday night.

Police Staff Sgt. Ramonito Cabarubias of Ubay Police Station said that at past 7 p.m., the motorcycle with a sidecar, driven by Luciano Platino Casing, 61, had no functioning taillight while traversing the dimly-lit road.

The couple were on their way to Ubay town when the car hit them.

Casing and his live-in partner, Victoria Reyes Cuyag, both residents of Barangay Cabatang in neighboring Alicia town, were rushed to the Don Emilio Del Valle Hospital in Ubay.

But as at past 10 p.m.  tonight, Cuyag was transferred to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City due to serious condition.

The driver of the car identified as Joseph Polestico Auza, 35, a resident of Barangay Balintawak in Talibon town is now under police custody.

Auza told police that he didn’t see the motorcycle since the area was dim.
