Passengers of a fast craft that took shelter after it encountered big waves off the coastal waters of Mactan Island, Cebu.
The 130 people on board were safely transported to Hilton Wharf after they were rescued by the personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard in Central Visayas (PCG-7) and the other boatmen nearby.
Aside from the passengers, all seven (7) crew were also transported safely to mainland.
According Lt. Jr. Grade Michael John Encina, MV Sunriser 2 was enroute to Getafe town in Bohol when it met big waves and strong winds in between the islands of Olango and Mactan at around 9a.m.
The fastcraft’s skipper Bonifacio Dayanico decided to take shelter and anchor at the said area.
Encina said there was no gale warning hoisted over Central Visayas.
PCG-7 is coordinating with the vessel’s owner Cordova Inter-Island Shipping Lines Inc. to facilitate the affected passengers. //
